Mission Statement: Camp Quality is a summer camping experience and year-round support program for children with cancer.
Overview: Camp Quality is a unique international camping program founded in Sydney, Australia, in 1983. There are now over 50 locations worldwide. Its purpose is to bring a week of fun and joy into the lives of children with cancer. Any child who can tolerate a week away from family or hospital can attend Camp Quality, even those as young as four years old. When space is available, campers’ siblings up to age 13 may attend as well.
The Camp Quality Arkansas summer camp is held each year at Camp Powderfork in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Volunteer doctors and nurses are present at all times. Every camper is paired with a companion who is dedicated completely to his or her care. Activities include traditional summer camp experiences—swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, and campfires.
Each fall, Camp Quality holds a reunion weekend in Hot Springs, sponsored by Oaklawn Rotary. Additionally, Camp Quality offers a teen leadership weekend for campers and siblings 13 and over, which is held at the 4-H Center in Ferndale, Arkansas.
There are also year-round activities that occur at different locations around the state. Every program of Camp Quality is free of charge to the children and their families.
