Mission Statement: Camp Quality is a summer camping experience and year-round support program for children with cancer.
Overview: Camp Quality was named based on the words of a pediatric oncologist: “No one can do anything about the quantity of one’s life, but all of us can do something about the quality.” Founded 1983 in Sydney, Australia, Vera Entwistle was responsible for introducing Camp Quality to several countries including the United States.
The summer of 1986 in Northwest Missouri, the first U.S. Camp was held for 43 campers. Today 16 camp locations offer a unique experience to hundreds more campers.
Each location hosts a week long residential camp for children in the summer a reunion in the fall. Year-round activities include family weekends, holiday parties, day trips, winter weekends and many other events that provide for fun and friendship.
The Camp Quality Arkansas summer camp is held each year at Camp Mitchell, 10 Camp Mitchell Rd, Morrilton, Arkansas.
- There is no requirement for a child to be in active treatment. Each camp location determines how spots are filled should there be more applicants than spaces available at camp.
- The local camp level determines if siblings are accepted. Please contact your local camp for more specific information.
- Usually campers are ages 5 – 17. Certain events may have different age requirements, like teen weekends. Check with your local camp for more specific information.
- Camp Quality provides 24-hour medical care at all overnight camps where parents are not present. All Camps have a doctor on-call or on grounds for the entire week.
- Staff must consent to a background check, complete volunteer training and orientation, complete a reference check, and be interviewed. Camp Quality meets all requirements of their insurance company and the individual state where the camp is located.
- You will incur no other costs than those associated with transportation to and from camp or the designated drop off location for camp. This includes other year-round activities. They raise money throughout the year that allows Camp Quality to operate at no charge to you.
- Camp Quality is a Children’s Oncology Camping Association Gold Ribbon Camp.
- Specifics are determined by the local camp, but usually campers and their immediate family members are invited.
- Camp Quality’s food service staff at each camp will accommodate whatever dietary needs your child may have.
- Acceptance of any camper, including hematology patients, is at the discretion of the local camp and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Summer camp registration is usually available on the local camp’s website at the beginning of February each year. Additionally, programs may also require registration online.

- make the fight against cancer easier through the development and distribution of it’s highest quality materials designed specifically for children and teens. This includes Treatment kit, Cozy Care Journal, and picture books as well as other resources developed and written just for children.
- ACCO states it provides crucial support families need – financially, socially, and emotionally – through diagnosis, treatment, and well beyond.
- Advocate for critical research on treatment protocols appropriate … with treatment options designed for the small, delicate bodies of children.
- Give the fight against childhood cancer the attention it deserves because kids can’t fight cancer alone!
