Tips
- Some wait lists for appointments can be lengthy. If it’s a pressing need, ask your physician to expedite their referral.
- Request to be put on the cancellation list.
- When you set an appointment, ask if there is paperwork that needs to be completed & submitted before the appointment. Also ask if there is paperwork that needs to be completed and brought with you to the appointment. If you already have an appointment and didn’t ask about the paperwork, call now. Some clinics will cancel appointments if the paperwork hasn’t been submitted beforehand.
While Waiting for Your Appointment:
Paperwork
If you didn’t ask about paperwork when making your appointment, call now. If you have the paperwork, complete it. This can be lengthy, so allow yourself plenty of time. Then phone to see if it needs to be submitted before the appointment, or brought with you.
Make notes
This could be a food or a symptom diary; a list of concerns; questions that you want to ask at the appointment; a list of tests that you want to request; and anything else you can think of that might be helpful.
Research
This will prepare you for the appointment and may bring to light some questions you want to add to your notes.
Appointment Day:
Bring your notes and any requested paperwork.

Medical Legal Partnership
http://medical-legalpartnership.org/partners/arkansas-childrens-hospital-medical-legal-partnership/
Medical-legal partnerships can bring much needed benefits to patients, providers and health institutions. MLPs now operate in more than 250 clinical sites across the U.S., bringing lawyers into hospitals and health centers to connect low-income and chronically ill patients to benefits and protections including disability income, adequate nutrition, and safe and affordable housing.
Under the partnership, Legal Aid of Arkansas and Walmart will provide legal assistance to patient families in need at clinics set up at ACH, as well as during inpatient visits. Direct access to legal services will help many families address obstacles to good health and continuing recovery. Attorneys can help families who need utility service recovery for the child’s home care, assistance negotiating with a landlord over the environment of an apartment or even special educational testing.
