Mission Statement: Arkansas Hands & Voices’ goal as a state chapter is to form a comprehensive group of parents and professionals that work together to benefit children and families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Overview: Hands & Voices is a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to helping families and their children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as the professionals that support them. Its Arkansas chapter provides a means for families to learn about the variety of resources and options available to them and how to access them. Resources available include links to state and national informational websites, articles, and sources for advocacy. Through this network of resources, families can make informed decisions about their future in regard to educational options, the changing landscape of assistive technologies, and many other issues facing families with deaf and hard of hearing children.
Through support groups and social gatherings, Arkansas families can share experiences and information as they are given the opportunity to gain knowledge and direction from families who have faced the same challenges and choices. Arkansas Hands & Voices hosts events throughout the year, including an annual meeting, a Back to School Bash in August, and the Candy Cane Christmas event.
Membership in Hands & Voices is $25 per family or $40 for a professional.
