Mission Statement: OAR strives to use science to address the social, educational, and treatment concerns of people with Autism, parents/caregivers, and professionals. The mission of ‘applying’ research to answer questions of daily concern to autistic people and those around them defines our goals and program objectives and shapes our budget.

Overview: OAR’s meaning of applied research is defined as research that directly impacts the day-to-day quality of life of people with Autism. It entails systematic research for positive outcomes in areas including education, communication, self-advocacy, self-care, social skills, employment, behavior as well as adult and community living. This extension relates to issues of family support, the efficacy of service delivery systems and demographic analyses of the Autism community.

Mission Statement:  The mission of the AAROC is to provide Hope, Direction & Support to families of individuals diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, and we fulfill our mission through the following activities:
 
Parental Support:
  • Family Fun Days to defer the cost for families to enjoy a day at the Little Rock Zoo or a community festival;
  • Information and Referral Services to assist families with identifying available services, eligibility criteria, and necessary paperwork;
  • Emotional support by connecting families to other families in their community who have similar experiences and by providing caring staff who are available to talk through issues, or simply listen, when they need it;
  • Technical assistance answering questions on a variety of topics including school issues, IEPS, Medicaid services, postsecondary options, and behavioral challenges
 
Education and training:
  • Seminars and conferences for parents, therapists, educators, and health care professionals
  • A four-part series offered quarterly for parents whose children have been newly diagnosed
Awareness and Advocacy:
  • Various fundraising and awareness activities
  • Legislative Advocacy
  • Participation on the Legislative Task Force on Autism

Overview: The Arkansas Autism Resource & Outreach Center (AAROC) was established in January 2008 as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. AAROC provides parental support, education, training, and advocacy for and on behalf of autistic individuals and their families.

Mission Statement: to empower and support families who are impacted by Autism by promoting a culture of inclusion and acceptance. Through advocacy, education, and community outreach, AIM strives to create a world where individuals with autism are celebrated, valued, and included in all aspects of society.

  • AIM’s programs include AIM2Help Grants for families to help offset some of the financial burden
  • AIM2Educate Grants to help support teachers and therapists in local schools help serve children with special needs
  • AIM2Gather Events program has a variety of events through out the year where AIM focus on families being included in social adventures while connecting with others
  • AIM2Inform provides educational conferences for parents/caregivers and educators covering a wide array of topics around caring for an individual with autism.
